Journals - ACF International

CITVC student Zofia chose ACF International as her personal videoconference project. This organization is a charity which deals with hunger all around the world. Their slogan is "action against hunger", and they provide aid to countries across the globe, including many nations in Asia, Africa, Middle East, and Europe. Here are some facts that you may not know: There are almost one billion people who suffer from hunger. 55 million people are severely malnourished. Around 3-10% of the kids that are malnourished receive aid. Zofia wanted to talk with a member of the ACF team to enlighten her peers about the problems of hunger today.

Zofia contacted Ryan Head, Community Outreach Officer at Action Against Hunger | ACF-USA. He was willing to Skype with us and we learned a lot from his talk. It was an informative dialogue and one that made the class realize how much more work needs to be done to eradicate hunger.

"I learned some things as well, including what type of food was distributed to individuals in need, what we can do to make a difference, and what Ryan does for the organization. We learned about Plumpy'nut, which is a special type of food given to people who suffer from malnutrition; it is nutritious and contains a lot of fat and vitamins. Ryan also told us that we can participate in the Race Against Hunger program (which is for students like us) and even get our school involved!" -Zofia
